What is AHCC?

From Shiitake Mycelium to AHCC®

The process begins with a carefully selected shiitake mycelium culture, which is preserved as a frozen working culture to ensure consistency and purity throughout production.
The mycelium is then gradually expanded through several cultivation stages:
- shaking culture
- aeration culture
- pre-culture
- and finally large-scale main culture fermentation tanks
During this controlled cell culture process, the mycelium grows under optimized conditions that support the development of characteristic AHCC® alpha-glucans and other naturally occurring compounds.
After cultivation, the material undergoes separation and concentration steps before being gently freeze-dried. The final stage includes powdering and granulation, resulting in the finished AHCC® extract used in supplements and research applications.
This carefully standardized production method helps ensure batch-to-batch consistency and distinguishes AHCC® from conventional mushroom powders or simple extracts.
